Studying on iPad
Take notes and study on iPad with Apple Pencil in Oria
On iPad, Oria connects the work you do in your documents with your reviews. You can import a course, annotate it with Apple Pencil, handwrite notes and practice directly from your materials.
Start with the document you use in class
Import your material and place it in the relevant chapter. On iPad, you can then annotate your PDF or add handwritten notes with Apple Pencil.
Keep explanations close to the relevant passage: a calculation step, an example from your teacher or a question to investigate. The context is there when you come back to study.
Turn a passage into a chance to test yourself
From a document linked to a chapter, you can create flashcards from selected content. You can also hide passages to test yourself or launch exercises from the document.
Choose an approach based on what you want to retrieve: a flashcard for a focused question, a hidden passage to complete information in context, or an exercise to develop an answer.
Continue in daily review
Flashcards created from your documents join spaced repetition. FSRS adapts their next review date to your answers and review history.
Document exercises are also integrated into daily review on iPad. You can return to practice you prepared while working through the course without having to remember every passage to revisit yourself.
A simple way to prepare your next session
At the end of a class, choose a few points to test yourself on. You do not need to turn every annotation into a card.
- Keep examples and explanations as context in the document.
- Create a separate question for each concept you want to retrieve from memory.
- Next time, begin with daily review and return to the document when you need an explanation.
Your questions
Can I take Apple Pencil notes on the web?
The Apple Pencil handwriting and document exercises described here are features of the iPad app. Oria also lets you study on the web and on iPhone.
Does every annotation automatically become a flashcard?
No. You choose the content to use when creating flashcards. An annotation can remain an explanation in your document without becoming a review item.
